How is an acrylic sign printed?
The graphic is printed on the back of the clear sheet with a white layer behind it, so you view it through the acrylic. That gives the face a smooth, glossy, glass-like look and keeps the print protected behind the plastic.
Can I get standoffs or rounded corners on acrylic?
Yes. Silver standoffs are $6.25 a hole and black are $8.75, drilled at the corners and spaced 24 to 36 in apart on larger signs. Rounded corners come in a 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 or 1 in radius. Standoffs need a rectangular sign, so they cannot be combined with contour cutting.
How do acrylic signs mount to a wall?
The usual method is aluminum standoffs, which hold the panel a short distance off the wall through holes drilled near the corners. Most sizes get 4; wide signs get more along the top and bottom edges, about every 2 to 3 ft. Standoffs come in polished silver or black, and the holes are marked on the artboard in Vector Studio so words stay clear of them. A contour-cut sign uses other mounting.
Can acrylic signs be used outside?
These acrylic signs are rated for long-term indoor use. For an outdoor sign with a premium look, aluminum composite (ACM) is the outdoor-rated choice.
Are plexiglass signs the same as acrylic signs?
