Aluminum Composite (ACM) Signs questions, answered

What is ACM?
ACM stands for aluminum composite material: two thin aluminum faces bonded to a solid polyethylene core. It is the same class of panel sold under brand names such as Dibond. The result is a flat, rigid sign panel that is lighter than solid aluminum of the same stiffness.
Should I choose 3mm or 6mm ACM?
3mm is the standard sign thickness and suits most wall-mounted and post-mounted signs. 6mm is twice as thick and noticeably stiffer, so it is the better choice for large panels or signs that need to stay perfectly flat over a wide span.
How long do ACM signs last outside?
ACM is rated for long-term indoor and outdoor use. The aluminum faces do not rust or absorb water, and the panel stays flat in heat better than plastic sheets. It is one of the most durable printed sign materials offered in this store.
Is ACM better than a solid aluminum sign?
For large, flat panels, usually yes: ACM is stiffer and flatter for its weight. For small post signs, solid .040 or .080 aluminum is a single thin metal sheet. Both are long-term outdoor materials, and the comparison above lists the price per square foot of each.
