FAQ
Window Graphics questions, answered
What is one-way window film?
One-way window film is perforated vinyl: the outside shows your full graphic, while people inside can still see out through the small holes. 50/50 has half the area open for better see-through; 70/30 has more printed area for a stronger image. It is rated for long-term outdoor use, about 8 years.
What is the difference between a window cling and a window decal?
A static cling holds to glass without adhesive, so it can be removed and repositioned, which suits seasonal and short-term promotions. An adhesive decal is permanent until removed and lasts longer, which suits hours, logos and long-term graphics.
Can a window graphic be seen from both sides?
Yes. Double-sided window vinyl prints a graphic on each face, so the message reads correctly from inside and outside. It suits glass doors, office partitions and storefronts where people pass on both sides.
Should the graphic go on the inside or outside of the glass?
Inside mounting protects the graphic from weather and tampering and is the usual choice for clings. Outside mounting avoids glare and tint from the glass. Static clings can be ordered for either inside or outside application.
Can window graphics be lit from behind?
Yes. Translucent backlit film is made for lit applications such as light boxes and illuminated windows, where light passing through the film makes the colors glow.
Should I choose 50/50 or 70/30 perforated window film?
50/50 leaves half the film open, so people inside see out more clearly; 70/30 has more printed area, so the image outside is stronger. Both are one-way perforated adhesive vinyl at $5.75 per sq ft, with a gloss protective laminate for +$2.50 per sq ft, up to 52 × 600 in either way round.
How much do window clings cost?
Clear and white static clings are $7.20 per sq ft ($0.05 per sq in), with a $7.50 minimum per cling, and each order line is at least $35.00. 10 clings at 12 × 18 in are $102.60 before shipping. Contour cutting adds 10% of the print price, and quantity savings are 5% off 10 or more of the same cling, rising to 35% off 1,000 or more; larger orders save more. Inside or outside application costs the same.

How do I set up a file for contour cutting?
Contour-cut single-sided DualView window graphics from Brand 9 Signs fit within 24 × 24 in and print on the 24 × 24 in registration-mark sheet. Contour cutting is priced by the 24 × 24 in sheet: each sheet is billed as 4 sq ft of vinyl, whether it holds one piece (a 16 × 18 in shape, say) or several (four 11 × 11 in shapes fit on one sheet). Download the registration-mark template (PDF or SVG, at brand9signs.com/shop/files/B9-contour-cut-registration-template-24x24.pdf), place your art inside the marks and send two files: the print file (your art plus the 6 marks) and the cut file (the cut path only, as a hairline, plus the same 6 marks in the same place). Keep the marks where they are and set the size to 24 × 24 in; the quantity is the number of sheets. In Vector Studio, upload the print file as your artwork and the cut file under Contour cut. Or draw the cut line in Vector Studio: it places your piece on the sheet, with copies side by side when they fit, and makes both files.
Can an AI design my window graphic for me?
Yes. In Vector Studio, start from 7 designer templates for window graphics, or ask Vector, Brand 9’s AI design agent, to lay it out from your business name and details. Vector checks letter height against viewing distance, contrast and print sharpness before you order. You can change any word, color or size before you approve it, and there is no charge to design; you pay for the order. Vector Studio runs in your browser, so you can design from anywhere, and Brand 9 Signs has been making signs since 1986.
