Brand 9 Signs publishes its military sign prices so a unit or agency can budget before it requests an estimate. A routed squadron sign in 1.5″ high-density urethane is $1,800 at 36″ × 36″ and $2,250 at 48″ × 48″. A cut-to-shape PVC military wall sign starts at $300, and a clear acrylic wall sign is $850 at 36″. Every one of them carries the unit’s own insignia and names.

These are the same prices shown on our product pages and in our sign price guide. What follows is what each type actually is, where we have built it, and how to choose between them.

Routed squadron signs

This is the sign most units mean when they ask for a squadron sign: the crest itself, routed in relief from 1.5″ high-density urethane (HDU) and finished in premium paints in our own paint booth. It can be cut to the outline of the insignia, so the background disappears and the crest hangs on its own, at no additional cost. Or it can stay on a full square background. It comes in two sizes, 36″ and 48″ square.

We have routed them for Fleet Readiness Center Southeast DET Jacksonville, Patrol Squadrons VP-8, VP-9, VP-16 and VP-26, and the VR-62 Nomads at NAS Jacksonville, among others. Choose the size by the wall it hangs on and the distance it is read from: the 48″ is the one for a hangar wall or a large lobby.

Name and title signs

Most crests hang with nameplates beneath them. A squadron name sign is 6″ × 36″ ($350), a title sign is 3″ × 36″ ($325), and a combined name and title sign is 6″ × 36″ ($475). All three are routed from the same 1.5″ HDU as the crest, so the set matches.

The board we built for Patrol Squadron Sixteen is the usual arrangement: the Eagles emblem at the top, with nameplates listing the squadron’s command staff beneath it. Patrol Squadron 26 and Patrol Squadron Nine follow the same idea at a smaller scale, an emblem with plates for the commanding officer, the executive officer or the command master chief. Because name signs, title signs and combined name and title signs are listed on their own, a unit can order a new plate without replacing the crest.

Military wall signs

The military wall sign is the lighter option: 12 mm (½″) PVC, cut to the shape of the insignia and float-mounted on an aluminum rail so it stands off the wall. It is $300 at 24″, $375 at 36″ and $425 at 47″. It suits offices, passageways and conference rooms, where a routed relief would be more than the space needs.

Acrylic wall signs

For a cleaner, more architectural look, the acrylic wall sign is ¼″ clear acrylic held off the wall on satin aluminum standoffs: $850 at 36″ and $950 at 48″. We built acrylic wall displays for the U.S. Air Force at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland.

What a listed price does not cover

The listed price is the sign. Delivery and installation depend on where it is going, so your quote confirms artwork, delivery and installation for your location. Base identification, gate and building signs are not on the list at all: each is designed for one site and priced per project after we see it. Larger interior work, like the NAVFAC Southeast logo and map wall we built, is scoped the same way.

How an estimate and order work

  1. Request an estimate. Military and government orders are not placed online; every one starts with a written estimate for your purchasing process.
  2. Send the insignia and the text. The unit’s approved artwork, and the exact wording for any name or title plates.
  3. Choose the size and the cut. 36″ or 48″, cut to the insignia shape or on a full background.
  4. We draw it at size. The sign is drawn to scale from the insignia, the wording and the size on your estimate, and it is made exactly to that drawing.
  5. We route, paint and crate it. All in our own shop in Orange Park, Florida, and the sign ships from there.
