Make your AI logo ready for signs and print

Made your logo with ChatGPT, Canva or another AI tool? Upload it to see how large it prints sharp and what to fix before it goes on a sign. The background is removed, flat-color logos are redrawn as vector shapes, and you download a transparent PNG and an SVG. Any other logo file works too. Free, with nothing to order.

Why AI logos fail in production

An AI logo can look finished on a phone and still not be ready for a sign, a cut vinyl decal or a shirt. These are the reasons, and the check on this page measures each one on your file.

  1. Low resolution. AI image tools save a picture often about 1,000 pixels across. On a small sign that is sharp only up to about 10 in wide; on a building it is blurry.
  2. Pixels, not shapes. Cut vinyl, routed letters and building letters are cut along outlines. A picture has no outlines until it is redrawn as vector shapes.
  3. Fake depth. Gradients, drop shadows, glow and texture look good on screen. Cut vinyl, screen printing and embroidery need each color to be one flat color.
  4. Letters that are not a font. The letters are drawn as part of the picture. They can be misspelled or uneven, and there may be no real font to type them again.
  5. Different every time. Ask again and you get a different logo, so there is no master file. Keep the exact file you chose and make the vector from that one.

What this page does

Removes a flat background. Redraws flat-color logos as vector shapes and checks them against your file, pixel by pixel. Measures sharpness, strokes and letter sizes at the width you plan, and says when a vector version is flatter than your file.

What it can't do

Turn shading into a flat design, fix misspelled letters, or name a font. For a flat version, ask your AI tool again with the words the check gives you, or start the logo over in the logo designer.

FAQ

AI logo and logo cleanup questions, answered

I made my logo in ChatGPT. Can I use it for a sign?
Often, yes, after a check. ChatGPT and other AI image tools save a picture made of pixels, often about 1,000 pixels across. That prints sharp on business cards, and on a small sign up to about 10 in wide. Cut vinyl, routed letters and building letters are cut along outlines, so they need vector shapes in flat colors. Upload the logo on this page: it removes a flat background, redraws flat-color logos as vector shapes when the result matches your file, and lists what to fix for the sign you plan.
Can I use an AI logo for print or embroidery?
For full-color printing, yes, up to the size its pixels allow; the check on this page gives that size. Screen printing and embroidery use one ink or one thread per color, so they need a flat-color version with no gradients, shadows or texture. If the check finds shading, ask your AI tool for a flat version of the same logo (the page gives you the words to paste), or download the vector version and compare it with your file.
Why are AI logos hard to put on a sign?
Five reasons come up again and again: the picture is small, it is pixels instead of shapes, it has gradients, shadows or texture that can not be cut or stitched, the letters are drawn rather than typed in a real font, and asking again gives a different logo, so there is no master file. The check on this page measures each of these on your file.
Can you tell which font is in my logo?
No. This page does not identify fonts, and it does not guess. Letters in an AI logo are usually drawn as part of the picture, not typed in a font, so there may be no real font that matches. The vector version keeps the letters as shapes, so no font is needed to print or cut them. To have the name set in a real font you can name and reuse, start it in the Brand 9 logo designer.
How big should the letters on a sign be?
A trade rule of thumb is about 1 inch of letter height for every 10 feet of viewing distance, so 3 in letters read from about 30 ft. Cut vinyl letters should be at least 1/2 in tall, and cut vinyl and routed letters need strokes at least 1/8 in wide. The production check on this page measures the smallest letters and the thinnest stroke in your logo at the width you plan.
Which logo files work?
PNG, JPG, WebP, SVG, PDF, HEIC (iPhone photos), TIFF, Photoshop PSD, GIF, BMP, EPS and AI files, up to 60 MB. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher files need to be saved as a PDF first, and a CorelDRAW file exported as a PDF. The best file is a vector PDF, SVG, EPS or AI: it prints sharp at any size.
Why does my logo print blurry?
A picture file has a fixed number of pixels. Printed larger, each pixel gets bigger and the edges go soft. A logo saved from a website, an email or social media is often only a few hundred pixels across. That is enough for a business card, but not for a sign. The check on this page shows how large your file prints sharp on cards, small signs and large signs.
What does vector mean?
A vector file stores the logo as shapes, not pixels, so it stays sharp at any size and can be cut from vinyl, metal or acrylic. When your logo has a few flat colors, this page redraws it as vector shapes automatically and compares the result with your file, pixel by pixel. The vector is offered only when it matches. Gradients and shadows can not be kept as flat shapes: when your logo has them, the page says so, and the vector version is flatter than your file. Photos can not be redrawn this way.
Is the logo cleanup free?
Yes. There is nothing to order and no account to make. PNG, JPG, WebP, SVG, PDF and HEIC files are checked in your browser and stay on your device. TIFF, PSD, EPS, AI, BMP and GIF files are converted on our server first.
