Building Letters

Non-lit fabricated letters are hollow aluminum or stainless steel letters with real depth, 1 to 6 inches deep, for a building or lobby that is lit by daylight or floodlights. Cast letters are solid cast aluminum or lead-free bronze with a flat, round or prismatic face, the most durable and traditional choice. Formed plastic and injection molded letters are lightweight, UV-resistant plastic letters at the lowest price, for storefronts, offices and addresses. Face-lit letters glow through a colored acrylic face at night, the most visible choice from the street. Halo-lit letters, in fabricated metal or cast aluminum and bronze, light the wall behind them, so they read as a crisp silhouette with a soft glow. Lit acrylic and lit formed plastic letters are lighter lit letters, face-lit, halo-lit, side-lit or faux neon.

Each letter is priced by its size, the construction and the depth. The size of a letter is its largest dimension, measured from the real outline of the font you choose, so a wide W can cost more than an I at the same height. Lowercase lit, cast and plastic letters cost 90% of a capital, and on stainless lit, cast and plastic letters a comma, period or dash costs a third. Standard-font cast and plastic letters are priced at their listed size. Cast and formed plastic letters in any font cost less per set when you order more sets of the same lettering. Anodized aluminum adds 100% on fabricated letters and 25% on cast letters, titanium coated stainless adds 30%, and two-tone halo letters add 15%. Fabricated aluminum letters from 3 to 60 inches tall and stainless steel from 2 to 36 inches, 1 to 6 inches deep. Cast aluminum and bronze letters from 4 to 48 inches in any font, or 4 to 24 inches in a standard font (prismatic-face Trajan Bold in 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 15 and 18 inches), 3/4 to 1-1/2 inches deep by size. Formed plastic letters from 4 to 48 inches in any font, or 6 to 36 inches in a standard font; injection molded letters from 2 to 18 inches. Face-lit letters from 12 to 60 inches in aluminum and 9 to 36 inches in stainless, 3 to 6 inches deep; trimless face-lit letters from 3 to 36 inches, 2 or 3 inches deep. Halo-lit letters from 3 inches, up to 60 inches in aluminum and 36 inches in stainless, 1 to 6 inches deep; halo-lit cast letters from 6 to 30 inches. Lit acrylic letters from 4 to 46 inches (side-lit with a metal laminate face to 30), and lit formed plastic letters from 6 to 45 inches (faux neon to 24). Letters 30 inches and larger ship as oversize.

Choose from 21 fonts in block, condensed, serif and slab styles. Cast and formed plastic letters can also be made in standard fonts, such as Helvetica, Futura Bold and Times Bold, at a lower price in their listed sizes. Prismatic-face cast letters also come in stock Trajan Bold, the classic engraved Roman monument letter, in capitals. Injection molded letters come in Helvetica or Times Bold; the preview draws standard fonts in a close match. Fabricated letters need strokes at least 3/8 inch wide, cast and flat-face plastic letters at least 1/4 inch, lit metal and lit plastic letters at least 1 inch so the LEDs fit inside, and lit acrylic letters at least 1/2 inch. The designer measures the thinnest stroke of the font at your height and tells you the height that works if a stroke is too thin.

Lit metal and lit formed plastic letters come in white (7000K), natural white (5000K), warm white (3000K), red, yellow, green or blue; halo-lit cast letters in the same colors with a 3200K warm white. Lit acrylic and faux neon letters come in white (6500K), warm white (3200K) or red. Warm white is the most popular choice for halo-lit letters on stone, brick and wood.

Every lit letter is priced with its LED package: UL-listed LEDs, the power supplies (24-volt Class 2 for metal letters, 12-volt for acrylic and faux neon), 10-foot lead wires, a wiring diagram, the mounting studs or stand-offs and a drilling pattern. Have an electrician connect the power supply on site.

Every order comes with threaded studs on the back of each letter and a drilling pattern, and we add a full-size placement template with a level baseline and a number for every letter. Non-lit letters can sit flush or stand 1/2 inch or 1 inch off the wall on aluminum spacers. Halo-lit letters always stand off the wall so the light can spread behind them. Detachable studs make lit letters easy to service.

After you approve the artwork proof, plan on about 13 business days for formed plastic and injection molded letters, 15 for cast letters, 18 for non-lit fabricated letters, 17 for lit metal letters, 17 for lit formed plastic, 17 for halo-lit cast and 28 for lit acrylic letters before they ship, then 3 to 5 business days by ground. It is made in the same construction as your letters: fabricated aluminum or stainless steel, face-lit or halo-lit metal, cast aluminum or bronze, formed plastic, lit formed plastic or halo-lit cast metal, with the same finish, colors, LEDs and mounting. A logo is priced by the box around it and its depth, with up to 30 separate pieces, and a small logo is priced at the minimum logo price for its depth. Logos are not made in lit acrylic, injection molded, trimless or round and prismatic face cast letters.
