Dimensional letters are solid, non-illuminated letters — flat-cut acrylic, cast metal, or fabricated aluminum — mounted proud of the wall for depth and shadow. Channel letters are hollow, fabricated letters built to be illuminated: front-lit for a classic glow, halo-lit (reverse) for a premium backlit halo, or both. The right choice depends on your brand, your building, and whether you need to be seen after dark.
Most storefront letter sets run $2,500–$12,000+ installed, driven by letter height and count, illumination type, materials and finish, mounting method (raceway vs. flush), and county approvals. A lit channel-letter set with a raceway typically lands mid-range; halo-lit and all-metal builds run higher.
